New York Chapter
American College of Health Care Administrators
President's Message        Anthony J. Restaino

It is with great pleasure, pride and enthusiasm that I
enter into my first term as the President of the New York
Chapter  of the American College of Health Care
Administrators.  Having been a member of the College
since 1989, it is truly an honor to lead the membership at
this juncture in my career.

The first order of business is to thank the Immediate Past President, Eric Kalt.
He demonstrated skillful leadership and was able to successfully direct the
Executive Committee during his tenure.

The New York Chapter is currently in a state of transition.  John F. Kennedy
once said, “The time to fix the roof is when the sun is shining.”  With this in
mind, I feel it necessary to stress the importance of membership in the American
College of Health Care Administrators.

As a member of the College you have the opportunity to be a part of an elite
group.  The College is the only organization dedicated to the professional
leadership and personal development of the Licensed Nursing Home
Administrator.  Membership benefits include:

•        FREE access to ACHCA’s MyZiva.com………the premiere resource for any
Nursing Home Administrator.  This includes the Members Only newsletter.
•        Leadership and Career Development through the many high level
education programs offered at our 40th Annual Convention (Kerhonkson, New
York – March 2008), Annual National Convocation (Northern Kentucky - May 17
through May 20, 2008), the Summer Leadership Conference (Bermuda – July 28
through August 2, 2008) and the Winter Marketplace (Las Vegas – December 12
through December 14, 2008).
•        Professional Advancement through Fellowship and Professional
Certification Programs
•        Networking with Colleagues through attendance at the various programs
previously mentioned, membership in our Peer2Peer on-line forum and other
social events throughout the year.

As a member, I can honestly say that my achievements, both professional and
personal, would not have been possible if not for my involvement in the New York
Chapter.  Early on I joined the Convention and Foundation Committees.  This
involvement facilitated interaction with my peers and with local vendors.  These
friendships are ones which have lasted for over twenty years.  There have been
many instances in which I had an operational issue and was able to contact one of
my “friends” for a possible solution.  So, I implore you; fill out an application for
membership located on this website.  If you are already a member, grab a
colleague and explain the benefits to them.  Tell them what the College has done
for you.  Together we can make the New York Chapter the “flagship” Chapter of
the American College of Health Care Administrators.

Finally, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you and serve with you for the
upcoming year.
